Darren attended Amherst College and worked Amherst’s Office of Admission for seven years (2002-2003, 2004-2010), serving as the Assistant Dean of Admission and as an Assistant to the Dean of Financial Aid for Outreach. In addition to reviewing first year applications, Darren oversaw transfer admissions and helped launched several groundbreaking programs focused on increasing access and diversity. He created and supervised Amherst’s lauded Telementoring Program, in which Amherst students mentor high-achieving, underrepresented high school students throughout the college application process. Darren also implemented a grant from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation to create a recruitment program for low-income, community college transfer students from underrepresented backgrounds. And he coordinated the recruitment of U.S. Armed Forces Veterans for Amherst’s new Veterans Scholarship Fund.During his time at Amherst, Darren also served as an Assistant Men’s Hockey Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. He led recruiting efforts for the four winningest classes in the program’s history, which also produced two recipients of the NCAA DIII National Player of the Year. Darren also worked as an Admissions Officer at Tufts University (2003-2004).
Darren graduated manga cum laude with a concentration in Philosophy in 2002 from Amherst College, and he also served as captain of the men’s hockey team. Darren currently resides in Minnesota with his wife and two daughters.
